Background: Our cranberries are dry bog variety grown in western NY. They have tart, bright flavors that are so easy to play with. Deep crimson color brought to you by cold extraction!! Almost all cranberry flavors, the natural ones anyway, are heat extracted, leaving the responsibility of sweetening to the drink maker. When cold extracted (that’s us), cranberries do not need so much sugar or any at all. 1/2 oz in soda water is so darn refreshing you will never buy a “flavored” water or spirit again.
Health: Catechins anybody? These are an interesting set of polyphenols/antioxidants that play an interesting role in bacterial health in your body. A small subset of catechins called pro-anthocyanidins are specific to making your bladder lining slippery, making it impossible for E-Coli to stick and grow causing UTI’s. Cranberries have the most pro-anthocyanidins of any fruit in North American. Cranberries are also very high in mineral ascorbics (Vitamin C). Native Americans have known cranberries as a medicine and health maintainer for thousands of years.
Uses: Any cocktail you can think of where cranberry is called for. If you want it dry and not so sweet from the (typical) sugared up cranberry juice, this is your answer. Cosmopolitan? One the best cosmo’s you will ever have with this shrub. Water flavor – unparalleled, simple, light and background tart.
We extract the flavor and juices from fruit harvested here in the Finger Lakes region whenever possible. This helps produce the vibrant color and flavor of our small-batch shrub. There are no flavor enhancers, preservatives, or colorants. Ever! Taste the Finger Lakes Harvest difference!
