Gramma Mora's Mexican Cuisine
For more than 30 years, Gramma Mora's has been serving authentic Mexican recipes from Gramma Mora's table to the tables of many diners. The first authentic Mexican restaurant of it's kind in the Buffalo community! Since 1994
Over 100 years ago the Mora family came from Mexico to the Unites States bringing with them the warmth of their homeland. In the 1920's Samuel Giovino, a native of Buffalo was in the U.S. army and he was stationed in Colorado Springs where he met and married Mercedes. He then brought his new bride to Buffalo where they raised six children. Even though traditional Mexican food was hard to acquire in Buffalo Mercedes did her best to find the ingredients she needed to prepare dishes for her family. Mercedes wanted to pioneer one of the first Mexican restaurants in Buffalo so in 1980 Mercedes and her son Charles opened Gramma Mora's Mexican Restaurant on Niagara Street near Hertel Avenue. The restaurant was named after Charles' grandmother and Mercedes' mother, Juliana Mora.
